First Training of Teachers at Fayoum Center of Excellence

On August 29 Fayoum University opened its Center of Excellence for Education for Sustainable Development to the public. The opening was attended by the President of the University as well as by a number of university staff and teachers.

The week after, the center received its first batch of trainees for a comprehensive 5-day training. This training presented the Pilot Implementation of the EduCamp Training Programme at Fayoum University and was attended by a total of 25 teachers from two different schools.

At an event held on August 29,2013 at the Faculty of Education, Professor Abdel Hamid Abdel Tawab Sabry, President of Fayoum University, opened the first-of-its kind in Upper Egypt Center of Excellence in Education for Sustainable Development.

The opening ceremony was attended by Professor Ahmed Taha, Dean of the Faculty of Education, Professor Mohammad Farouk, Vice-Dean for Graduate Studies and Research, Professor Samiha Makhlouf, Vice-Dean for Community Service and Environment Development, and Dr. Hanaa Ezzat, Director of Center of Excellence in Education for Sustainable Development.

On the 19th and 20th of May 2013, a meeting was held between the official representatives of the partner institutions of the EduCamp project to discuss and specify the next steps to be taken.
Present were representatives from RWTH Aachen, Graz Technical University, Cairo University, Alexandria University, the American University in Cairo, Zagazig University, Fayoum University, Heliopolis University, Suez Canal University, WESC, Bibliotheca Alexandrina, CEIFA, and the SEKEM Development Foundation.

Heliopolis University celebrates the opening of its Centre of Excellence

26th June 2013 marked the opening of the Heliopolis University Centre of Excellence. Developed under the EduCamp framework, this Centre will serve as a hub for Education for Sustainable Development in Heliopolis University for years to come.
The day was organised in a manner that provided both the school teachers and school students with interesting and engaging events and activities to celebrate the Centre of Excellence’s official opening.

Tracking the Roots of Organic Agriculture

On Tuesday 16th and Wednesday 17th April 2013, Fayoum University organised and hosted an EduCamp activity under the theme of raising awareness regarding making the best use of resources and the advantages of organic agriculture, with a total number of attendees in the range of 120-150 people.

E-learning's Effect on the Different Modules of EduCamp

To further disseminate the EduCamp project, an activity was organised and hosted by Zagazig University on April 13th, 2013. The theme was “the effects of e-learning on the different modules of EduCamp”.
The activity involved 140 faculty members, teachers, and school students from grades 3 to 6. The school students came from various schools in the area. They were led by Zagazig University professors in addition to a team of university student volunteers, where they implemented water and energy related activities with the students.

Last Training of EduCamp Training of Trainers Module at Alexandria University: 
The last of 9 Teaching of Trainers (TOT) modules was held at Alexandria University between 27th April and 1st May.

Organised by Professor Boshra Salem of the Faculty of Science, Alexandria University, it involved a total of 21 participants from differing backgrounds. Professor Salem is also responsible for the Biodiversity Kits used by the programme.
