From September 3 to 7 the fourth Training of Trainers Module on agriculture will take place in Torres de Vedra, Portugal. The training will be facilitated by Suhita Osório-Peters, who is scientific coordinator of CEIFA as well as member of the Steering Committee of the Portuguese Regional Center of Expertise (RCE) of Education for Sustainable Development “CREIAS-Oeste” and Bianca Fliss, who is Coordinator of International Affairs at Heliopolis University, Egypt as well as Coordinator of RCE Cairo.
The two trainers have prepared an interactive, lively programme that will ensure that trainees will benefit from a diverse and multifaceted training program. The 19 trainees will gain a good background knowledge about the current state and challenges of agriculture in Egypt. In groups they will work on the agriculture activities that an international group of experts has designed for the grades five to nine. The group work will enable the trainees to experience the activities from the perspectives of both the participant as well as the facilitator. To live up the training schedule, an excursion to an organic farm, an outdoor compost activity as well as a meeting with a local group of scouts will round up the program

I am a teacher in SEKEM school, which works after the principles of Steiner pedagogy. In the beginning of May 2012 I had the great pleasure to participate in the “Our World” ESD Training, which took place at the University of Limerick from May 1st, 2012 to May 5th. In my 11 years in Sekem school I attended a lot of trainings on various topics of education, sustainability, teaching methods, communication and even arts. Since the school is affiliated to the SEKEM initiative, which works for Sustainable Development since 1977, we do a lot of activities in school to educate the children about all four dimensions of sustainable development.

13 Trainers travelled from Egypt to Limerick Ireland in early May 2012 to take part in a ‘Training of Trainers’ program on the ESD kit ‘My life – Our World’. The trainers came from a number of universities and schools throughout Egypt and brought with them a wide variety and range of expertise. The training was facilitated by Dr. Orla McCormack and Dr. Jennifer Liston.

The group was extremely energetic, vocal and enthusiastic. They loved to participate actively in sessions, to give their views and to facilitate sessions themselves.  Within a very short time, it was like as if the group had known each other for a much longer period than a few days!
