On the 18th and 19th of March 2013 the Bibliotheca Alexandrina represented by the Center for Special Studies and Programs (CSSP) in collaboration with Wadi Environmental Science Centre (WESC) and Alexandria University organized a two-day workshop entitled: Explore the World of Education for Sustainable Development within the frame work of the “Education for Sustainable Development Beyond the Campus-EduCamp” Project which aims at promoting the Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in the Egyptian society.
On Monday 1st April 2013, Cairo University organized a conference titled “Sustainable Development: Challenges and Prospects” at the University Conference Centre. The event is organized under the auspices of Cairo University-Community and Environment Services and the United Nation Development Program UNDP. The event hosted a number of sessions addressing Sustainable Development from the different perspectives: energy, environment, agriculture, water, geography, society and economics.

Within the framework of Education for Sustainable Development Beyond the Campus (EduCamp) TEMPUS Project, the Bibliotheca Alexandrina Center for Special Studies and Programs (CSSP), in collaboration with Wadi Environmental Science Centre (WESC) and Alexandria University are organizing a two-day workshop titled “Explore the World of Education for Sustainable Development”, at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina Conference Center, 18 and 19 March 2013.
As a response of an invitation from Nile Culture Channel, I went to the Studio of “ Shabab FE Shabab” Program on the first of January 2013 to present EduCamp. The presenter and me had a good dialogue about the project, its idea and objectives as well as the relevance of education for sustinable development (ESD).
On Monday March 4th 2013 at 13h00, Cairo University celebrated the official opening of the Unit of Excellence for Educational for Sustainable Development at the Community Service Centre premises at Cairo University Main Campus. The opening of the ESD Unit of Excellence took place within the opening of the refurbishments and renovations carried out at the Community Service Centre. The official ceremony was held under the auspices of Prof. Hossam Kamel, Cairo University President and Prof. Heba Nassar, Vice-President for Community Services and Environment and in the presence of Cairo University Community Services Center board and the Sustainability Committee of Educamp project including the representatives of the Egyptian Partner Universities and Institutions: (Bibliotheca Alexandrina, Heliopolis University, Zagazig University, Sekem-RCE and WESC)
Cairo University has the pleasure to announce the official opening of the Unit of Excellence on Monday Mar 4th 2013 at 13h00 at the Centre premises in Cairo University Main Campus. The opening will take place among the opening of the Renovations carried out at the Community Service Centre.
During the midyear vacation the teacher trainers of SEKEM Development Foundation gave an intensive training at SEKEM school about ESD and innovative and interactive teaching methodologies. The training was based on the resource kits, developed by the project partners and focused on the transformation towards sustainable development.
The training enabled the teachers to implement activities during their lessons that would encourage students to integrate sustainable behaviors in their daily lives, and to help them to find the relation between school and community, as well as between economy and environment.
